General Description :
This equipment is pc linked wind tunnel offers a good route to the study of aerodynamics. Drag and lift force are directly measured by three component balance. Air velocity, air temperature are also read directly and will be shown on computer screen. Results of experiments on various models such as car, aero foil and wing may be calculated and are shown on computer screen using a suitable software & hardware compatible to windows program on pc.

General Description :
This equipment is low speed, open citcuit wind tunnel offers a good route to study of aerodynamic.
This machine is competitive price, compact size, and simple to use, light weight, to be installed on provided trolly,so, easy to move. It is acceptable quiet due to smooth running of suction blower and equipped with nonpolluted type smoke generator(commercial name). Therefore, ideal for air conditioned classroom as a basic demonstrating unit for study of aerodynamics. Drag and lift force are directly measured by two component balances. Air speed is measued by calibrated air damper and hot wire anemometer. Air temperature is measured, and angle of attack can be adjusted manually and is indicated by circular angle scale in term of degree. Results of experiments on various model such as car, aerofoil and other geometrical shape may be calculated and are shown on computer screen using a suitable software & hardware compatable to windows program on pc.

General Description :
The benchtop unit contains a narrow flow chamber with viewing window in which the drag model is placed. The airflow is generated using a blower. To obtain a flow with low turbulence, the air passes through a settling chamber, a fine sieve and a flow straightener. Smoke is used to make the streamlines visible. The smoke is generated by vaporising a glycol mixture and enters the tunnel via a manifold with a large number of outlet holes.
The flow patterns can be clearly seen due to the black background of the flow chamber and additional lighting. Four different models (cylinder, orifice and two wing sections) are supplied. They can be interchanged and have an adjustable angle of attack.

General Description :
This apparatus is useful for class room demonstrations and students investigation into the behavior of fixed-wing air craft and wing performance during take-off, flight and landing.
A model air craft is suspended in the open circuit wind tunnel, and to be supported with linkages that allow it to move vertically and pitch about the quarter chord lenght independtly. The operator files the air craft manually using the control column and throttle which are positioned direct in front of the instrument window and are arranged typically as found in a light air craft.
To fly the air craft, the operator pushes the throttle lever forward to increase the tunnel air speed to a certained value, the air craft may be made to take-off by drawing the control column slowly back. A digital display shows air speed in working section, altitude in term of feet, angle of tailplane, lift and drag forch on the aircraft. The air speed change in the wind tunnel simulates the effect of increasing the change of air speed of a real air craft due to a change in thrust from the propeller.
The control column is linked to tailplane of the air craft. Pushing the column forward or pulling it back change the angle of the whole tailplane. A scale on the control column indocates the tailplane angle, unlike the real craft, the control column is used only for move up and down the mondel air craft.
The direction and quality of air flow over the wing surface may be investigated by application of small tufts which are optional. An adjustable counter weight allows the student to set the center of gravity of the model to different positions from fore to aft of the quarter chord point.
To find the lift characteristics of the wing, student can link the air craft to the load cell and vary the angle of attack.

4.8.6 Three Component Balance |

General Description :
This vertical wall attached- three component balance fits onto the working section of WT300 Wind Tunnel. It may also be used with other subsonic wind tunnels of similar design. Lift, drag and pitching moment exerted on the model will be measured and display digitally in term of Newton and Newtonโ€“ m respectively. A triangular force plate is hinged by mechanism that attached to the square based plate , allow the triangular plate to move a little bit freely in plane parallel to the based plate and can be freely rotated about horizontal exist.
The forces acting on the model attached to the balance are transmitted by signal cables to three strain gauged load cells to a/d converter and provided soft ware so that they are able to display digitally on both local control panel and computer screen using RS232 port. With provided software, collecting and calculation of the lift, drag , pitch moment and corresponding lift and drag coefficients can be easily done.
