General Description : |
This is newly development, self-contained unit, compact designed and competitive in price. The equipment consists of small open channel with volumetric tank at its downstream, the water in the below water reservoir is pumped to the channel. Flow controlling to be done by bypass valve ,flow control valve and variable flow meter in term of liters/minute. At a certained flow rate, the head, H, above weir crest will be measured by water hook or point gauge. The water flow rate, Q, characteristics of tested weir and H are then will be used for calculating of coefficient of discharge.
The volumetric tank and stop watch(will be provided) can be used as alternative method of Q, measurement. At the same time this is available for calibration of variable area flow meter. This very helpful to reduce time for experiment by using direct reading instrument while student still understand basic principle of volumetric tank.
For well preparation, it is possible to run two types of weir, 45 degree V-notch weir and rectangular weir with in 30 minutes.

- Channel and all tanks: Plastic sheet.
- Frame : All stainless steel, aluminum and plastic.
- Channel dimension : W x L x D = 150mm x 500mmL x 180mmH.
- Water reservoir: Plastic tank, 400mmW x 500mmL x 300mmH. Effective volume = 50 litres.
- Volumetric tank: Plastic tank; 250mmW x 400mmL. Effective volume 20 litres. Quick closing valve and over flow port are provided.
- Volumetric scale: Read able to 0.1 litres.
- Water leveling indicator: Micrometer type, readable to 0.1 mm both hook and point gauge.
- Water circulating pump: Steel case, nonferrous propeller, 0.5 hp,max 37.5 litres/minute. 220 Vac 50 Hz. Stainless steel pump is an optional.
- Variable area flow meter : Upto 50 litres/minute.
